Every paving project begins with accurate excavation. The depth is set by the thickness of the selected paver, leaving room for the base and bedding layers underneath.

Depth is set by the required finished paving height rather than a fixed figure.
Before any base material goes in, every finished paving height is established with laser levels and string lines.
- Finished paving levels are set to suit the surrounding landscape.
- A minimum fall of 10mm per metre carries water away from the building.
- Falls are increased where site conditions or drainage call for it.
- Accurate heights mean a smooth finish with no low spots or pooling.
- All levels are checked before base preparation begins.
A properly prepared base is what keeps paving where you laid it. Depths are set out in step 01 — this is how they go in.

Each paver is individually laid and levelled into the mortar bed for maximum strength and durability.
Every foundation is prepared, levelled and checked before a single paver goes down.
Every paver is installed individually, with the levels checked as the work moves across the area.
- Pavers are laid by hand.
- Laser levels and string lines hold straight lines and accurate levels.
- Consistent joint spacing is maintained throughout.
- All cuts are completed with professional masonry equipment.
- Falls and alignment are checked continually as we go.
Once installation is complete the paving is secured and finished, so it holds up and looks the part on handover day.
- Concrete edging is installed where required to prevent movement.
- Dry-laid paving is compacted where appropriate.
- Dry-laid joints are filled with premium paving sand or polymeric jointing sand.
- Wet-laid natural stone joints are finished with premium external grout.
- The entire area is cleaned and inspected.
- Final quality checks are completed before handover.
